the Love of God?
(Top Posts - Distance From Belief
in christianity - 030301)
Actually,
since god is an imaginary being, it's up
to us, humans, only us, to love one another. Not
really all that difficult to grasp, the love of human
beings, but it's rarely seen. Why is that? Why the
lack of love of human beings for one another?
What's up with that, the lack of love thing, that's
so pervasive in America, do you think?
After
all, promoting god love is all fine and good,
but since god is not evident, since it's up to humans
to love one another, perhaps bypassing the mystical
and getting right to the heart of the matter would be
a more promising concept, on this earth, at this time,
in this life.
You
see, 67 percent of the world doesn't believe in
the christian god so a call to a christian god for love
is of no value to the 4 billion or so that are 'christian
god free', but I submit to you that they/we have just
as much potential in our hearts for loving one another
as do the 33 percent who are counted as christian
god believers.
By
involving mystical beings in the picture, you're
merely confusing the issue, as I assure you I can and
often do love my fellow humans and it comes from
genetics / memetics / choices / emotions, not god.
As
for god love, explain cancer, and I don't mean
that to be argumentative, I mean that as a disclaimer
that provides evidence directly opposite your claim
that a mystical being is a loving being for, in this life,
on this earth, at this time, it's up to us to deal with
and counter the consequences of a natural world,
such as cancer, and to disassociate from that and
pretend that mystical beings are involved is but to
depart from responsible pro-human addressing of
the problems of life as we all have that responsibility
as part of our destiny in a natural world (IMO).
Also,
don't forget the christian god threats that are
inherent in most christian faiths and in the christian
bible, as to claim god is love and in the same breath
claim that if you don't accept that, you're doomed,
is a bit hard for disbelievers/doubters/distancers
from faith to swallow.
After
all, if I wrote that you must believe in me or
burn in hell / suffer oblivion / be apart from me forever
(pick one, as christian faith views vary on that), I'd be
amazed if anyone, with a straight face, would succeed
in claiming that I was a loving being. Such is the nature
of the 'god of love' claims, and such is the emptiness
of said claims.
