Link Hijackers on 3 Flights
Excerpts
from article describing a letter belonging to the terrorists
on 3 of the 4 hijacked airliners:
Letter
of Islamic Suicide/Murder for God
- "You
are carrying out an action that God loves."
- "Purify
your heart and clean it from all earthly matters. The time
of fun and waste has gone. The time of judgment has arrived."
- "Keep
a very open mind, keep a very open heart of what you are to
face. You will be entering paradise. You will be entering
the happiest life, everlasting life."
- When
the hijackers entered the planes, they were implored to say,
"Oh God, open all doors for me. Oh God who answers prayers
and answers those who ask you, I am asking you for your help.
... There is no God, but God."
- "When
the plane moves and it's on its way ... and you come to the
moment of close combat, then strike like heroes who do not
want to come back to Earth, say ALLAHU AKBAR (God is great),
because you will instill terror in the infidel."
- "Pray
and wash before you leave the apartment. When you have washed
for prayer, angels will ask God to forgive you and angels
will pray for you. You should not appear confused and nervous
but joyful, happy, relaxed, tranquil, because you are carrying
out an action that God loves."
Plans
to Defend U.S. Studied
Some
of the ideas under consideration to shift military priorities
to deal with the threat of terrorism:
- A
new Marine Corps brigade-size counterterrorism unit
- An
Army command for homeland defense
- Air
Force consideration of permanent allocation of planes and
personnel to help the Air National Guard carry out combat
air patrols over major U.S. cities
- Occasional
Navy deployment of Aegis cruisers for antiaircraft defense
off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts
- Shift
from units to fight conventional wars to specialized units
to fight terrorism
- The
outline for a shift in defense priorities was already near
completion prior to the attack - it will be released next
week under the title "The Quadrennial Defense Review"

Stop
Religious Denial, Accept Responsibility, Modernize Your Faiths
As
I view little children at "training camps for terror"
in Pakistan, rocking back and forth chanting to god (allah)
sitting in front of open qurans, I can't help but wonder ...
how do we escape this insanity? It's inculcated in children
and haunts them and us our entire lives.
The
answer may reside in the strangest and most ironic of places,that
being the organizational entities of the world's religions.
You see, when events such as the attack on America happen, they
go on-and-on about how the individuals committing murder-for
god are not "true" followers of god -or- have misinterpreted
"the faith", but you know what?
None
of them seems the least bit interested in updating their holy
documents to mate to a modern world. Simple suggestion, have
an ecumenical meeting of the world's major religions (especially
the top 3 - catholicism, protestantism, and islam) and have
them put their faiths where their mouths are, excising from
their holy documents all of the calls to murder / threaten /
damn / kill humans ...
Then,
have followers trade-in the "old ethic" documents
which have resulted in horror being visited upon humankind for
the modern documents (and, what the hey, the religious can credit
god [allah] or whatever super beings [good ones, that is] for
the updates) ...
Furthermore,
provide substantial secular inducements to encourage religious
leaders to switch to the new documents (under a kind of "I'd
rather switch than fight" motif) ... every religious leader
has his price, and after a generation or two or three, the old
documents would be nothing but a reminder of "the way things
were" before god [allah] or whatever super-beings [good
ones, that is] led humankind to a newer, a better, a greater
oneness with the almighty.
Just
a thought, trying to think like a theist and trying to encourage
them to get in touch with their god [allah] or whatever super-beings
[good ones, that is] and update their holy documents so they
can no longer be used to inspire murder/threats/damnation/killing
of humans ...
As
Bush, Jr. might say in a rare moment of enlightenment:
"You're
either one with the 'old ethic' documents that can and have
been used to inspire violence upon humankind and, recently,
upon America, or you're against them and one with the new revelation
from the almighty (modernized holy documents)." Needless
to say, Bush, Jr. would ignore all disbelievers but since we
don't believe in magic beings or ancient holy documents, we're
not the issue, here.
If
theists would accept responsibility for the inspirations to
kill that are still present in their so-called holy documents
and would remove them, then and only then would I consider their
faiths free from blame for the acts of commission derived directly
from the ancient calls to murder/threaten/damn/kill humans.
To
the religious - Stop with your denial. Accept responsibility.
Modernize your faiths. God [allah] or other super-beings [the
good ones, that is], if one with love, if existent, if pro-human,
would bless you for it.
