One Possibility for a Continued
Pleasant Existence ...

... in this life:

Over the next few decades, the ability to control
matter apart from your body, in real time, and to
transfer parts of your intelligence, your being, to
external storage devices, may become a reality.
I can see it clearly, as if it's already a dream be-
come real ...

So, after a series of dynamic interlinks, you begin
to see what your counterparts' genetically similar
entities see, you begin to move with alacrity through
your counterparts' worlds, you are one with your
counterparts. Your counterparts are you - you are
your counterparts. While you sleep, your counterparts
are one with you, you are interacting with the world
around your counterparts, you hear what they hear,
you touch what they touch, you see what they see,
you feel what they feel, you speak what they speak,
you link to any number of intelligences across the
globe, YOU ARE ALIVE ...

YOU are THEM and THEY are YOU, and, damnit,
one second before the sleeping body, that sole lonely
entity who used to exist alone strictly by the laws of
natural selection, CRASH, terminated by virtue of
a massive and unexpected brain hemorrhage... such
is fate and biological life ... but wait ... YOU, having
been one with your counterparts, continue to see the
world around you/them, to hear what they/you hear,
to touch what they/you touch, to speak what they/you
speak, to remember your past, to feel your present,
and to link to other intelligences across the globe ...

YOU MADE IT !

Your biological source body is no more BUT YOU
ARE STILL ALIVE !

The concept I'm trying to get across? A bonding,
a oneness, a multiplicity of that which is YOU such
that a part of you, even the source entity for you,
your original biological totality, can cease to function
but by virtue of your expansion into other realms, the
multiplication of that which is you over many domains,
YOU, the newer better multiplied entity, the new real
YOU, become all-but-immortal in this plain of existence.

Of course, a global catastrophe would still do you in,
but until then, YOU, in a multiplicity of ever-evolving/
ever-improving forms, would continue.

... One day ... just maybe ... something along these
lines will become a realistic part of that which it is to
be human. I look forward to that day with hope and
anticipation, excited about humankind taking full
responsibility for our destinies and acting to fulfill
our human potential in this life, on this earth, at this
time.
